Opening Ceremony 08/06/2020

The subject of the competition will be to find the optimal feasible and sustainable concept of gradual transformation of the territory of Lake Milada into a place:

  • which, despite the proposed changes, will retain and further develop its distinctive natural character in order to create a landscape resilient to climate change
  • suitable for suburban recreation, relaxation in nature, sports with quality facilities, equipment, a place that will increase the quality of life of the inhabitants of the surrounding settlements and will attract cross-country visitors to stay
  • which will become an integral part of a wider area, which will be easily accessible from the surrounding towns and villages, will suitably complement their civic amenities, in justified cases also housing areas, connect to their built-up area and contribute to the restoration of a place with so called -  good address

Lake Milada and its surroundings were created by reclamation of the former surface mine Chabařovice, which in the 70s of the last century forcibly uprooted the territory of the landscape and the people who lived in it. Today, the area is returned to the landscape and the inhabitants of the surrounding settlements.
